The Iuliu Hațieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, is the continuation of the Superior Dacia University’s Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, which was created in 1919. Over 6,000 national and foreign students, 2,400 resident physicians, and over 1,100 lecturers and researchers attend the university.
Iuliu Haţieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy is committed to scientific research excellence. Our experts have won a growing number of European and national research funding contests. Each year, the number of articles published in reputable international science journals grows substantially.
UMF has risen to second place in the number of medical and pharmaceutical research projects funded by national and international organizations in the previous few years. In 2010, our university received funds totaling 73.872.646, 39 RON ( 15 mil euros). Several major European universities are now offering joint doctorates with UMF due to the dynamic activity of our young researchers and the importance of their work. These research’ findings have been published in prestigious international journals. At UMF, the focus is on fundamental and clinical research in clearly defined areas that are relevant to current research problems It is actively encouraged to form European and worldwide connections. The Research Centre for Functional Genomics, Biomedicine, and Translational Medicine was founded in 2010.
