Philippines, island country of Southeast Asia in the western Pacific Ocean. It is an archipelago consisting of more than 7,000 islands and islets lying about 500 miles (800 km) off the coast of Vietnam. Manila is the capital, but nearby Quezon City is the country’s most-populous city. Both are part of the National Capital Region (Metro Manila), located on Luzon, the largest island. The second largest island of the Philippines is Mindanao, in the southeast. The Philippines takes its name from Philip II, who was king of Spain during the Spanish colonization of the islands in the 16th century. Because it was under Spanish rule for 333 years and under U.S. tutelage for a further 48 years, the Philippines has many cultural affinities with the West. It is, for example, the second most-populous Asian country (following India) with English as an official language and one of only two predominantly Roman Catholic countries in Asia (the other being East Timor). The climate of the Philippines is tropical and strongly monsoonal (i.e., wet-dry). The ethnically diverse people of the Philippines collectively are called Filipinos. The ancestors of the vast majority of the population were of Malay descent and came from the Southeast Asian mainland as well as from what is now Indonesia. Estimates of the total number of native languages and dialects spoken in the Philippines differ, but scholarly studies suggest that there are some 150. Christianity constitutes roughly one-tenth of the population.

Eligibility Criteria For MBBS In Philippines
Age
A medical student must be of the age of 17 years at the time of admission.
NEET
Student Must Appear and qualify IN NMAT Exam in Philippines.
Marks
For admission in Belarus, the candidate must have secured at least 50% in 12th for general and 45% in 12th in SC/ST.
Nationality
The candidate must also possess a certificate showing that he/she is medically fit.
Intake For MBBS Admission In Philippines
- In general, Indian students who expect more than 60% in their 10+2 level reserve their seats at their preferred medical university from the start, rather than waiting for last-minute Indian results. Every year in June, the majority of medical seats for the September intake are filled.
- Every year in September, there is only one intake for several Philippines MBBS colleges, and the application deadline is usually the 15th of July for the September batch.
