Vietnam is a country in Southeast Asia that is officially known as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It covers 311,699 square kilometers and is located on the eastern edge of continental Southeast Asia. Tajikistan, also known as Tadzhikistan, is a country in Central Asia that is officially known as the Republic of Tajikistan. Tajikistan is also known as Tajik Tojikiston or Jumhurii Tojikiston. It is bordered on the north by Kyrgyzstan, the east by China, the south by Afghanistan, and the west and northwest by Uzbekistan. The autonomous region of Gorno-Badakhshan (“Mountain Badakhshan”), which has its capital in Khorugh, is part of Tajikistan (Khorog).
