Vietnam is a country in Southeast Asia that is officially known as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It covers 311,699 square kilometers and is located on the eastern edge of continental Southeast Asia. It is the world’s fifteenth most populated country, with a population of approximately 96 million people. Vietnam shares land boundaries with China to the north, Laos and Cambodia to the west, and the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea with Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Hanoi is the capital, and Ho Chi Minh City is the largest city.
Nepal is an Asian country located on the Himalayan mountain ranges’ southern slopes. It is a landlocked country bordered on the east, south, and west by India, and on the north by the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Its region stretches about 500 miles (800 kilometers) east-west and 90 to 150 miles north-south. Kathmandu is the capital.
Nepal remained isolated to the outside world for a long time, long under the reign of hereditary prime ministers who favored an isolationist policy, until a palace revolution in 1950 restored the crown’s authority in 1951, and the country was admitted to the United Nations in 1955. The kingdom adopted a multiparty parliamentary system in 1991. The monarchy was dissolved in 2008, after a decade of war and tumultuous negotiations with a powerful Maoist insurgency, and Nepal was declared a democratic republic.
Vietnam is a unitary Marxist-Leninist one-party socialist republic in Southeast Asia, one of two communist countries (the other being Laos). Although Vietnam’s fundamental belief remains socialism, its economic practices have become increasingly capitalist, with The Economist describing the country’s leaders as “ardently capitalist communists.” The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) claims its involvement in all aspects of the country’s politics and society, according to the constitution. The president is Vietnam’s elected head of state and military commander-in-chief, as well as the chairman of the Council of Supreme Defense and Security. He holds the country’s second highest post and is responsible for executive activities, state appointments, and policymaking.
The Government of Nepal is the country’s executive and central government. It was officially known as His Majesty’s Government before to the end of the Nepali monarchy in 2006 (the country became a republic in 2008).
The President is the head of state, while the Prime Minister is the head of government. The President’s position is mostly ceremonial, as the Prime Minister, who is selected by Parliament, is in charge of the government’s operations. With the exception of the Attorney General, who is appointed by the President on the suggestion of the Prime Minister, the heads of constitutional bodies are appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council.
